Are plastic trombones good?
A plastic trombone is a great option for very young players as their first instrument. The resistance in the slide will be frustrating for a more experienced player, but a young player who is new to the instrument won’t know the difference and will appreciate a relatively frictionless metal slide when they upgrade.
Should I get an F attachment trombone?
Re: Straight versus f-attachment The thing is, having an F attachment is absolutely necessary for a lot of the playing an orchestral trombonist (or an aspiring one) does. When you play 2nd, when you play solos… some 1st trombone parts do actually need (or is facilitated by) the valve.
What does an F attachment do?
The F-attachment on the trombone has two main purposes: It provides alternate slide positions for some notes. It provides a few lower notes. (It can also allow certain trills, but this is an advanced concept).
Why is it called an F attachment?
Each trombone has a maximum slide position it can be played at. For a tenor trombone this is around 60 cm. For tenor trombones, this extends the range from B♭ (their fundamental pitch) to A, G, and F. The additional tubing is thus called an “F attachment.” A valve must also be installed to use this additional tubing.
What is an F attachment on a trombone?
The F attachment is engaged by using a trigger which operates a valve (this is different from the three-valved valve trombone). This type of trombone is typically built with a larger bore size (0.525 or 0.547 inches (13.3 or 13.9 mm)) and is known as a B♭/F trombone, F-attachment trombone, or trigger trombone.
Is trombone an instrument C?
For example, piano, organ, oboe, violin, guitar, and trombone are all C instruments. A pianist who sees a written C will play a note that the violinist would agree is a C. This may seem obvious, but a clarinet player who sees a C on the page will play a note that does not sound like a C to the other players.
