How long is an outline supposed to be?
For a standard research paper of 15-20 pages, your outline should be no more than few pages in length. It may be helpful as you are developing your outline to also write down a tentative list of references.
Does an outline have to be in complete sentences?
The outline should be in sentence form. That means that each section of the outline must be a complete sentence B. Each part may only have one sentence in it. II.
Do you cite in an outline?
Use the last name of the outline author within an in-text parenthetical citation. This citation should fall at the end of the sentence in which you quoted or utilized the outline. For example, a citation at the end of this sentence would like this: (Smith). Create an in-text citation for the outline using page numbers.
Should an outline be double spaced?
Outlines. MLA style does not have a specific outline format. You should use the standard formatting (Times New Roman, 12 point, double-spaced) and include your information in the upper left corner and the title centered, as shown in the example on the Home tab above.
